Attention to the wound. Consideration of the whole picture.
When a foot wound is slow to heal, identifying the factors affecting recovery is essential.
We examine the wound and consider your wider health, footwear and pressure on the affected area. Laser therapy may be discussed as an addition to appropriate wound care, rather than a replacement for it.
Depending on your circumstances, we may also recommend dressings, pressure relief or involvement from your GP and other health professionals.
We’ll look at:
- How long the wound has been present and how it has changed
- Its location and current appearance
- Health conditions that may affect healing
- Pressure or friction from footwear and activity
- The need for further investigation or referral
